The Story of LeAnn & Mark

Mark and I met on Thursday June 12, 2003 at a little pub called The Derby. After eyeballing me throughout the night he eventually came up to say hello and invited me to an early morning breakfast at the Waffle House. I agreed, but then took my sweet time to arrive. When I finally got there he and his friends were just about to leave. If I had been just five more minutes I would’ve missed him and our story would have ended there, but instead we exchanged numbers. He told me he’d call me the next day and even though he was hesitant because my area code was different and he thought I lived far away I still received a phone call the next day. Friday morning came and he called to set up our first date for later that day. Our first date was amazing and over 12 hours long because we both didn’t want it to end. During that day we saw a movie, went bar hopping and played darts, walked around and window shopped in the Short North, ate dinner at Martini’s, and went to a jazz bar. Then we made plans for the next day!
Saturday morning I wrapped orange neon tape around utility and street poles to help him find his way out to me in the deep country and he and several of his friends came out to my house for a country bonfire party that night. We continued to talk and get to know each other throughout the night and from that point on we have never stopped seeing each other.
Since that long and adventurous weekend together, we’ve seen each other move from apartment to apartment, work in several different types of jobs throughout college, graduate college, start our careers, move to different states, buy a home and gain two pets. It has been a long time coming and we’re so excited to be starting another chapter in our life together.
